Built in 1276 on the orders of King Alfonso X, according to the inscription on one of its walls, it was built to cure the monarchy of an eye infection, following the miraculous intervention of Santa Ana, mother of the Virgin Mary. It was officially acknowledged as a historic monument in 1931.
